Membership

Members are selected annually from rising second-year day and evening students and rising third-year evening students. Selection is primarily through the summer joint write-on competition, which is conducted in coordination with several other journals on campus. A limited number of students are also invited to join based on academic performance.

Our members bring a wide range of skills and academic interests, including prior experience in the insurance industry. Many also pursue coursework in insurance law. During their first year, members typically complete four to six cite-checks and write a student note or comment. In their second year, members may apply for positions on the Editorial Board.

Transfer students interested in joining the Insurance Law Review should contact ilr@uconn.edu promptly. Applicants must submit a résumé and either (1) a writing sample containing at least twenty footnote citations or (2) a writing sample along with a completed Bluebook exercise, which will be provided upon request.

For questions about membership, please contact ilr@uconn.edu.
